Clean Air Solutions to Protect Against Airborne Viruses

Airbourne diseases hero
While the HVAC system alone cannot prevent the transmission of coronavirus, the industry’s professional association ASHRAE (The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers) has recommended a list of methods to help a home’s HVAC system to reduce airborne infectious particulate.

We here at Total Air are all about helping home owners protect there homes. So in an effort to provide you with information regarding healthy air products that can be installed at your indoor hvac system, here are three clean air products we are currently offering at TAS.
1. Indoor Air Media Cabinets– Installed at your return air plenum in the attic, media cabinets are best for mild allergies, dust build up and will capture more dust and particulate from your living space than an average 1″ filter. The Aprilaire 1210 model traps 94% of pollen and mold spores, 72% of airborne bacteria, and 56% of dust particles. Comparable to a Merv 11 Filter, replacement filters  are needed 1-2 times per year depending on your home, and TAS technicians carry them on their trucks and can replace them for your convenience with approval. 2. Honeywell UV Light– Your heating and cooling system not only heats and cools your home, but surface mold can grow on AC coils and that airborne bacteria can be distributed by your ductwork. Improve air quality throughout your home with a Honeywell UV Light. Once it’s  installed, it eliminates up to 99.9% of mold spores in your HVAC system and kills up to 87% of certain airborne bacteria passed by the system. The result is a more energy-efficient home with optimal air quality.

3. Remi Halo In-Duct Air Purifier– Installed at your supply plenum in the attic, the award winning Remi Halo Produces Hydro-Peroxide Ionizers that distribute through your living space to reduce airborne particles such as dust, dander, pollen and mold spores. The Remi Halo traps and kills up to 99% of bacteria, mold & viruses.  The difference between a standard UV light is the Remi Halo’s technology to produce ionizers and distribute them through your home to kill airborne particles. Standard UV lights are best for killing mold and bacteria at the hvac system.  Cell replacement is needed once every 1.5-2 years to ensure proper operation.
